Ultrasounds are typically performed at your initial visit to confirm the due date of the pregnancy, and again at about 5 to 6 months to be certain that all of the anatomy that can be seen is visually normal. We have certified ultrasound technicians that perform these ultrasounds by appointment only, and they will make certain that this special test can be both informative and enjoyable. Also remember that a normal ultrasound does not guarantee completely normal anatomy of your baby. Please click here to view our ultrasound consent form.
We ask that you have a full bladder for the day your ultrasound is performed. Try to empty your bladder 1 ½ hours prior to your ultrasound appointment. Then drink about 32 oz of water (our about the equivalent of 2 to 3 cans of soda). You must finish drinking your water about 1 hour prior to your scheduled exam time as it takes awhile for the liquid to reach your bladder. If your bladder is not full enough for the test, you may need to reschedule your test for another day. Remember having your bladder full gives our technicians the best chance of viewing the babies’ anatomy completely.
